What kind of activities and organizations are you involved in on campus? How about off campus?
I am a supporter of all campus activities! I love seeing what activities and entertainment each and every club is willing to provide. I have recently joined S-Lab and started a new club at Capitol, the Fashion Awareness Club! Who said an engineering school didn't have style? Off-campus I am a liaison for Top Teens Of America, Baltimore Chapter, which is a service organization that seeks to aid senior citizens, beautify America, and to promote higher education. I also love acting and modeling, and I do both whenever I can! I frequently travel back and forth to NYC for auditions, fittings, and fashion shows. I have had the ability to be an extra or background actor for several programs including I Am Legend, The Wire, and How to Look Good Naked.
What has been your most interesting/fun experience at Capitol to date?
Last semester, I had such a great time watching my peers do their rendition of Wildin' Out! It was amazing, and everyone was involved; students, faculty, staff…everyone! It was full of surprise and candor! If this were a college for acting, everyone would have received an A+ in improvisation!
Why did you choose to focus on your major?
After what felt like a century of uncertainty, I just knew business was the right match for me. I love innovation and fresh new ideas in a world full of repetition. I feel like I have a good foundation for learning more about the business world. Contributing my all to a profession that interests me, is what finding a major is about.
What is your favorite class? Why?
My favorite class would have to be Business Math with my favorite professor, Mr. Claude Rankin! In high school, I hated anything dealing with math but after this class everything just seemed to make sense. I was eager to get to class, eager to learn new material and eager to see how simple equations could help me manage my money better. It taught me personal finance, amortization on homes and cars, and even information on taxes.
It can't be all Ramen noodles…what's your favorite meal to cook in the apartments?
Everything! On a cold winter evening, baked chicken with rice and fresh string beans is delicious! On a warm sunny day, a simple tossed salad hits the spot.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
Right now, the Peace Corps sounds wonderful. I love giving back and I can't think of any other way than to spend 2-3 years after college sharing the knowledge that I have had the ability to learn.
Why did you choose Capitol?
I was looking for a small school where I could build relationships with the professors, peers, and faculty/staff. From the moment I entered Capitol, I felt like I wasn't another number. I wasn't another statistic. I was just another promising student looking to get ahead in life. After that, it was a sealed deal.
